What is a Restorative Head Massage?

  • A Restorative Head Massage is a deeply calming, head focused treatment that helps settle the nervous system and bring the body into a state of relaxation. It includes the shoulders, neck, head, ears, face and feet, often creating a full body reset.

Is it the same as Indian head massage or Cranial Sacral?

  • It is rooted in the same Ayurvedic traditions as Indian Head Massage. It is different from Cranial Sacral Therapy and focuses more on relaxation, rhythmic touch, and supporting the nervous system.

How is this different from a head spa or Japanese Head Massage?

  • This treatment is different from what is often called a head spa or Japanese head massage. It is a dry, head focused treatment rooted in Ayurvedic traditions, designed to calm the nervous system and support deep relaxation.

Do I stay clothed?

  • You are face up for the entire session. Unobstructed access to the shoulders is needed. You remain covered throughout and are welcome to get as comfortable as you like.

Why are the feet included?

  • Including the feet helps complete the full body experience. It supports deeper relaxation and allows the body to settle more fully.

What about ASMR?

  • Some people naturally experience ASMR during the session, which can feel like a pleasant tingling or deep relaxation response. It is not something that is created intentionally, but it often happens as the body settles.

What will I feel after?

  • Most people feel calm, grounded, and clear. Many describe it as a full body reset with a sense of ease and quiet in the mind.

How long does it last?

  • The effects are often felt immediately and can continue for hours or even days, depending on your system and how you integrate afterward.
